Prototype Proposal
Project Title: Especially for Children: Visual Rebrand and App
Problem Statement: The design challenge is to modernize and refresh an outdated existing brand design.
Prototype: By the end of week 3, I would like to have a finalized idea of the new updated brand style guide, such as logo concepts, color palette, fonts, etc.
Total Project Deliverable Summary: Visual rebranding of a childcare organization to strengthen the company’s presence and image, while creating a more consistent and cohesive brand strategy. This will include creating a new brand style guide and mobile app.
The brand style guide will include visual elements, logos, fonts, color palette, branded imagery.
The app will be branded for EFC specifically and available for teachers and parents to use for a more efficient experience. It will include easy parent/teacher communication, simple payments/billing, classroom management, daily reports, classroom observations, etc.
Tools and Technology List: Pencil, Paper, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma
External Connections: Since one of my best friends is a teacher at Especially for Children, she will be my biggest resource and connection for my project. I also plan to get in contact with Especially for Children’s management to get their input and share my ideas with them.
Challenges and Strengths:
Challenges include rebranding an existing company (instead of branding a new company), time management, and communicating the right message (mission and values). Strengths include user testing, UX design, illustrating skills, and branding experience.
Learning Goals: App prototyping/UX design and rebranding an existing company that has an outdated brand identity/design assets.

Project Brief
Hook: Creating an updated and more efficient childcare environment for existing organization, Especially for Children, in order to create a greater brand recognition.
Especially for Children is an existing childcare organization that offers high quality childcare programs in the Twin Cities area. Since they started in 1976, I believe a brand refresh would be beneficial to both the teachers and parents at EFC and it would create a stronger brand identity overall. I want to create a simpler, more modernized look that incorporates new tools and systems to improve the EFC environment as a whole.
